Beginners Chords – Stand By Me, Playing For Change

by Pelle on January 15, 2011

Beginner’s Chords; G-Em-C-D

If you know how to play G, Em, C and D there are literally thousands of songs you can choose from. It is one of the most common chord progressions in all music history, an in all music genres.

If you add two chords to your arsenal, F and Am, you can double the number of easy songs you can play.

Through all the years, the much loved song “Stand By Me” ( Ben E King) has been one of my favourites and I have played it countless times. This one is a very very special version of it, and I think it’s fantastic! It’s part of an exciting project, Playing For Change.

Stand By Me is played in C-Am-F-G all thru the entire song. Put a capo on the 5th fret, and you can play it in G-Em-C-D, if it’s easier for you.

Enjoy!
